Staff Christmas Party

Getting ready....lots of cookies...lots of festive drinks....yum!
And of course Lizby and Alyssa know how to pull of the awkward sweaters very well....they even pull off the awkward picture really well. Not sure what Nate is doing here....but it IS awkward. Good job Nate.

It was another great Christmas party with the summer staff of 07-10. I forgot to take pictures of everyone, so I really only captured the "ugly sweaters" of the group, but none the less they were important to capture. I especially enjoyed the matchy matchy tree sweaters by the newly engaged Abby and Andrew. I should mention they actually made their sweaters and apparently plan on adding 1 ornament to it each year....very nice. I just LOVE traditions.

Birthday Challenge

first Christmas

Do you like our fake log in the fireplace? Fun!

Nate took Friday off and took me out for a *birthday breakfast*..it's not even my birthday, but he knew that was the only way to surprise me. It was really nice. We went to Farm to Fork and I had a delicious breakfast and LOTS of great coffee. We were pretty much the only ones there, so it was quiet enough for C to take her morning nap.

Afterwards we picked up a Christmas tree from down the road and bought some lights, cider and cinnamon rolls. When we went home we turned on some Bing, the fake fire, lite the candles and away we went on the decorations. It felt like Christmas!

Little C loves the tree. She can't stop looking at it...or I guess you could say she likes the lights on the tree. I let her touch the branches and the lights. She was so curious. I'm glad she can't crawl quite yet or I think we'd be in trouble.

I completely forgot what day it was when I was dressing Charlotte this morning. One of our friends from church had given little C an OSU dress as a baby gift. I was planning on having her wear it during the Civil War game, but completely forgot it was today. Instead....and oddly enough...I dressed her in another outfit...perhaps it was fate. *look at her socks*

In a few short weeks we're flying to Michigan for Christmas! We're looking forward to it. This will be little C's first flying adventure. Maybe she will get wings. =)
We're leaving very early in the morning, so we reserved a room at a hotel next to the airport. I think that will help with the transition. We can leave our car there too which will be nice on our way back.

Anyone have advice for flying with a baby? Do they need ID or a car seat on the plane? We're trying to bring as few things as possible so as not to feel like we're moving across country. I don't like stuff....it makes me feel claustrophobic...especially in those tiny plane seats.

I've seen professional fliers walk on the plane without carry-ons...just a book or a light weight jacket in hand..oh how I have envied them. Someday we will figure that out. To be a mom with a baby in hand and no carry-ons...is that even possible? That sounds like a big risk...potential blow outs, guaranteed spit ups, strikes of boredom...oh the risks you would take. Not sure if it's worth it....not yet anyway.
